New Virtual Academy Assistant Principal

Virtual Academy Assistant Principal, Rebecca MichaelsThe district welcomes Rebecca Michaels, our new Virtual Academy Assistant Principal, who was approved on Sept. 18, 2023. She will start in late November.

 

Rebecca comes to the district from Mifflin County School District, where she was the assistant principal of Indian Valley Elementary Center. Before that, she was a middle school and high school vice-principal in the Bellefonte Area School District for eight years. During her 15-year career, she also has taught at Penn Cambria Intermediate/Primary School and Saltsburg Elementary School. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with an elementary education degree and earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, as well as her K-12 principal certification from Gannon University. 

 

“As part of her roles in Bellefonte, Rebecca worked closely with the Bellefonte E-Learning Academy staff to make sure students received meaningful learning experiences while enrolled in the correct courses to meet graduation requirements,” Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education Jonathan Bucher said. “I’m confident she’ll apply her experience with online learning and education in general to improve our VA offering for our families, and I look forward to working with her on our team.”
